INVITATION TO USCSCA LISTSERVE NETWORK, 3/16/01

Greetings, fellow sister-city organizers/pioneers!

Step-by-step we are improving our communication and information sharing. People from around the country are offering their skills to make sure the national organization can adequately be of service and meet the needs of our rapidly expanding individual membership organizational base.

Thanks to the generosity of Ms. Paddy Newell, a member of our newest project in Gainesville, Florida, who has volunteered to serve as a list moderator, we are now ready to establish a new USCSCA Network listserve.

We are asking each local US-Cuba Sister Cities membership organization to designate a contact person to serve as a link to our new USCSCA Network listserve.

If you are in the process of forming a sister city, and as of yet don't have an official group, please sign on, as it is our goal to help every city or community that has someone who would like to see this happen, get the guidance, assistance and tools they need to make it happen in their own unique environment.

Many of you have requested this service, to link designated contact individuals nationwide in an effort to help us share announcements about local events to promote our organizations, share ideas and information about our local efforts, and provide a forum to ask questions or seek advice about ways to promote our local efforts or start a new sister-city initiative.

The list is open only to those people who have been designated as a contact person, or people that you request membership for. This assures the list will not be used for nonproductive uses. The quantity of email will not be excessive. At least one contact person per organization is best to the success of this national list.

That person can forward to their community if they judge it to be useful. Organizations may have several participants, to make sure that someone is able to pass around the information. If your city gets too many participants, we will notify you to select fewer if the list moderator feels it necessary.

When you have discussed this with your group, and chosen your representative, they should sign on: To subscribe to the USCSCA Network listserve, send a message to:

padicita@ufl.edu

Please indicate who the contact is and what sister-city organization is represented, and any information about your group's current activities so that members can become acquainted with each other.

To start sending messages, post announcements, etc., to members of this group, simply send email to:

uscscanetwork-l@lists.ufl.edu

We hope you will find this list to be an effective tool to help you promote your local project, have your activities publicized so that people who know people in your area that might not yet be involved can help advertise your efforts, and a genuine source of motivation, inspiration and solidarity.

We hope to hear from you soon!
In solidarity,

Moderator, US-Cuba Sister Cities Association Network

If you do not wish to belong to the USCSCA Network listserve, you may unsubscribe by sending an email to

Sincerely,

Lisa Valanti
